North West Preterm Birth Cervical Length Training Clinical Fellow

The cervical length training development component of this post comprises liaising with clinical leads and preterm birth teams in maternity units in the North West Region to reduce variation and improve outcomes for women at risk of preterm birth by helping to integrate the practical and theoretical training for cervical length scanning within units. The key roles and outputs will include but not limited to: time dedicated to liaison with local teams, NW maternity team,s NW Neonatal Operational Delivery Network supporting the cervical length scan provision as part of perinatal optimisation across the North West Organising and supporting cervical length training days as established Working with the NW Iimaging Academy to support CASE accreditation of course materials Supporting regional QIP and helping to develop focused CL training plans for units.

Description of management component of the post

The key roles and output: Support the NHS NW maternity team to continue to develop and implement cervical length training around the region. Measure and report on progress of CL scan training uptake and quality. Scope for publications and presentations. Scope to complete the Leadership and Management SIPM if applicable.

Description of clinical components of the post

It is anticipated that the clinical component on the Rota will be 1 days per week to be discussed. The candidate would be expected to participate in all PTB prevention clinic sessions (currently 1.5/week) at Liverpool Womens Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and will have access to training in insertion of cervical cerclage. The successful candidate will join the on-call rota: ST3 7 (depending on experience), it is currently a full shift on call model estimated at a 1 in 12 rota.
