The post holder will practice as an autonomous advanced practitioner within the Acute and Emergency Care.
Working alongside senior medical team, the post holder will examine, assess, diagnose and treat patients within their scope of professional practice.
The job is practically based, intended to ensure skills and knowledge are related to high quality care and efficient service delivery, including achievement of national targets.

- Contribute to the development of an excellent clinical environment which is conducive to delivering high quality patient care and the achievement of excellence in service delivery.
- Work as an autonomous practitioner within Acute and Emergency Care demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge and skills in relation to the assessment and management of patients.
- Undertake full clinical assessment and examination of patients, providing a detailed medical history.
- Order/perform investigations and diagnostic tests as required.
- Interpret test results, where possible diagnose and initiate treatment plan.
- Refer patients appropriately to medical staff/MDT as required.
- Effectively communicate with GPs and other members of the Primary Care Team.
- Assist in the production of discharge summaries.
- Ensure follow up appointments/arrangements are made.
- Actively participate in the development of care pathways, guidelines and protocols as appropriate.
