Lincolnshire Archives is looking for a dedicated and professional individual to join our team as Heritage Security & Site Operations Officer—part‑time (25.75 hours per week).

This role is vital in ensuring the safety, security and smooth operation of some of Lincolnshire’s most treasured heritage sites.

About the Role

As a Heritage Security & Site Operations Officer, you will play a key role in safeguarding our historic buildings, collections, visitors, and staff.

This is a visible security presence role that requires confidence, professionalism and sound judgement when dealing with a wide range of situations.

Due to recent changes in immigration law in the UK we are unable to offer skilled worker visa sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular indoor and outdoor patrols at Lincolnshire Archives. There may also be opportunities to work across other heritage sites to meet operational needs.
  • Respond to security incidents, emergencies, and welfare concerns in a calm, professional, and proportionate manner.
  • Engage positively with members of the public and visitors, including managing situations involving challenging, disruptive, or anti‑social behaviour.
  • Manage situations involving individuals whose behaviour may be affected by alcohol, drugs, mental health issues, or other vulnerabilities, while maintaining professional boundaries and personal safety.
  • Monitor and control access to restricted areas and supervise contractors on site.
  • Support a safe and welcoming environment for visitors whilst ensuring compliance with site security procedures.
  • Carry out compliance checks, key‑holding duties (including call‑out) and basic site maintenance tasks.
  • Complete incident reports and escalated concerns appropriately in line with organisational procedures.
  • Work in accordance with health and safety requirements, conflict management principles, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Follow rota pattern Monday to Friday 12.30‑17.30 and one Saturday per month, alternate months. Some opportunities for overtime providing cover.
