This is an exciting opportunity to join our established team of midwives and play a key role in delivering a comprehensive maternity immunisation service.

The post holder will support the provision of routine and targeted vaccinations, including RSV, Influenza, Pertussis, COVID-19 and neonatal BCG, helping to protect pregnant women, babies and their families.

As part of the Public Health Agenda, the successful candidate will work proactively to maximise vaccine uptake across the maternity pathway, providing evidence-based information and support to service users.

Working collaboratively with Antenatal Clinic and Community Midwifery teams, they will contribute to the delivery of a responsive, high-quality service that meets the needs of our local population.

The role also includes participation in clinical effectiveness activities, including audit, evaluation and quality improvement initiatives, to ensure the ongoing development of safe and effective care.

  • Deliver a high-quality maternity immunisation service, including RSV, Influenza, Pertussis, COVID-19 and neonatal BCG vaccinations.
  • Provide evidence-based information and advice to women and families to support informed choice and maximise vaccine uptake.
  • Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care in line with national guidance, professional standards and local policies.
  • Work collaboratively with Antenatal Clinic, Community Midwifery and multidisciplinary teams to ensure accessible and coordinated care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records and vaccination documentation.
  • Support the safe management, storage and monitoring of vaccines in accordance with cold-chain requirements.
  • Identify and engage eligible women to improve access to and uptake of maternity immunisations.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues, providing advice and support on vaccination-related matters.
  • Participate in audits, service evaluations and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the collection and reporting of immunisation activity and performance data.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and competence through continuing development and training.

Working within an established team, they will administer vaccinations in line with national guidance and local protocols, including RSV, Influenza, Pertussis, COVID-19 and neonatal BCG vaccinations.

The post holder will provide information and support to women and their families, promoting informed choice and encouraging uptake of recommended vaccinations throughout the maternity pathway.

They will work collaboratively with Antenatal Clinic staff, Community Midwifery Teams and other relevant healthcare professionals to ensure equitable access to immunisation services and continuity of care.

The role includes the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care associated with maternity immunisation, ensuring that all activity is undertaken in accordance with professional, organisational and regulatory standards.

The post holder will maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to the monitoring and reporting of immunisation activity.

The successful candidate will support service development through participation in audit, quality improvement initiatives and service evaluations, helping to ensure that the service remains effective, evidence-based and responsive to the needs of the local population.

They will also maintain their own professional competence through ongoing learning and adherence to current immunisation guidance and best practice.

In addition, the post holder will contribute to maintaining a safe clinical environment, complying with infection prevention and control, safeguarding, health and safety, and medicines management policies at all times.
