A Different Kind of Education Role
Luma Education Recruitment is recruiting Learning & Wellbeing Practitioners / Teaching Assistants for a newly established Alternative Provision in Leicester.
This isn't a traditional classroom-based TA role. The provision is designed to give children and young people a different experience of education, with a strong emphasis on relationships, wellbeing, confidence and engagement.
You'll work with a small number of pupils and have the opportunity to get to know them properly, understand what makes them tick and find creative ways to help them engage.
What You'll Be Doing
Every day is likely to be a little different.
You'll help create an environment where pupils feel comfortable, listened to and encouraged to take part. This could involve supporting learning, getting involved in practical activities, helping pupils regulate their emotions or simply being a consistent and trusted adult.
You'll be expected to:
- Develop strong, positive relationships with pupils
- Support individual learning and development
- Encourage participation through creative and practical activities
- Provide individual and small-group support
- Help pupils develop confidence and independence
- Support children who may experience anxiety, emotional or behavioural difficulties
- Adapt activities and approaches to suit individual needs
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Create a safe, calm and welcoming environment
- Work closely with the wider team to understand and support each pupil
- Help pupils re-engage with education at their own pace
