An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to apply for the role of Band 7 Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) / Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) within the Injuries Department of the Emergency Department. This is a predominantly clinical, department-based role, responsible for delivering high-quality patient care within the adult minor injuries service. The post holder may also be required to support the paediatric area in line with departmental need.

The post holder will provide first-contact care for patients presenting with urgent and emergency care needs, working autonomously within their scope of practice. We are seeking enthusiastic, confident, and self-motivated practitioners (nurses or allied health professionals) with excellent communication skills who thrive in a fast-paced acute environment. A strong commitment to delivering high standards of patient care is essential.

  • Act as a first point of contact for patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients autonomously within scope of practice
  • Undertake comprehensive history taking and physical examination
  • Order, interpret, and act upon investigations (e.g. X-rays, blood tests)
  • Consult and manage patients within required clinical time frames and standards
  • Discharge or refer patients appropriately to specialty teams or community services
  • Provide health promotion and injury prevention advice to patients and carers
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records

Act as a visible, accessible, and credible clinical leader within the department. Support and promote effective multi-disciplinary team working. Lead and support colleagues through service development and change. Contribute to the development and competency of team members. Act as a role model, promoting clinical excellence and innovation. Support learners in practice, ensuring compliance with NMC/HCPC standards. Communicate effectively across teams and Clinical Management Groups (CMGs). Share good practice and clinical learning across the organisation. Manage conflict professionally and support constructive resolution. Support safe patient flow, admission, and discharge processes. Ensure professional standards are maintained in line with organisational policies.
