The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of the Legal department by delivering a wide range of litigation and legal services tasks across civil, criminal, planning, licensing, prosecutions, conveyancing, complaints and website content management.
They will prepare and progress civil court matters, including injunctions, debt recovery and landlord and tenant cases, arranging and participating in telephone conferences and representing matters at court where required. They will also prepare criminal cases involving environmental protection, housing standards, education welfare, anti‑social behaviour, trading standards, fraud and other regulatory issues.
The successful candidate will analyse evidence, provide clear advice, draft summonses, statements of case and originating applications, and attend pre‑hearing meetings to advise. They will undertake advocacy in the County Court, Magistrates’ Court or Tribunal, covering preliminary hearings, interim applications and trials. They will carry out legal research, provide timely advice, comply with court directions efficiently, and prepare briefs for Counsel for hearings and public inquiries.
