Key Plant Automation Ltd is a leading provider of innovative automation solutions, specialising in advanced welding, positioning, and robotic systems.

With a reputation for quality, precision, and reliability, we design and manufacture bespoke machinery and automation systems for customers across a range of industries worldwide.

Due to continued company growth and the planned retirement of our current Electrical Team Leader, we are looking for an experienced Electrical Department Team Leader to join our production team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical professional to lead a skilled and already established electrical team within a growing engineering company.

The successful candidate will benefit from a planned and supportive handover period with our current Electrical Team Leader, who is preparing for retirement.

This will provide a valuable opportunity to work alongside the existing team leader, gain a thorough understanding of the department and ongoing projects, and ensure a smooth and well-supported transition into the role.

About the Role

As the Electrical Department Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the electrical department while remaining actively involved in the hands‑on electrical assembly, wiring, testing, diagnostics, and fault‑finding of industrial machinery and control systems.

You will lead and support a small team of electrical technicians, allocate workload, manage priorities, and ensure that all electrical systems, machinery, and control panels are built and tested to a high standard.

This is a hands‑on technical leadership role rather than a purely supervisory position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and develop a small team of electrical technicians.
  • Allocate tasks and manage the day‑to‑day workload of the electrical department.
  • Plan and prioritise electrical work to support project deadlines.
  • Carry out hands‑on electricassemblie and machine wiring.

  • Work from electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Work with drives, inverters, and single and multi‑axis control systems.
  • Carry out electrical testing, diagnostics, and fault‑finding.
  • Identify faulty components and systems and carry out appropriate repairs or rewiring.
  • Ensure electrical work is completed to the required quality and safety standards.
  • Work closely with engineering, production and project teams to deliver bespoke solutions.
  • Act as the main technical point of contact for electrical assembly and related issues.
  • Support continuous improvement within the electrical department and workshop.
  • Support the training and development of team members.
  • Work alongside the current Electrical Team Leader during the planned retirement handover period.
  • Report to the Director of Engineering.

About You
