What skills and experience we're looking for

The Stephen Longfellow Academy is seeking to recruit an inspirational colleague to the role of Student Welfare Officer.

This role is crucial to our Academy’s work, with the successful candidate providing targeted, short-term interventions, supporting students to overcome barriers to learning, and promoting positive behaviour and wellbeing.

The postholder will play a key role in ensuring a safe, supportive environment and will work collaboratively with staff to improve attendance, engagement and outcomes for students.

Potential applicants should have

  • A relevant Level 3 qualification (or be willing to work towards), including GCSE English and Mathematics.
  • Experience of working with young people, including those with challenging behaviour.
  • The ability to build strong relationships and support students to overcome barriers to learning.
  • A patient, resilient approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
