This is more than a Band 6 role. It's an opportunity to develop towards a future Band 7 Clinical Lead position within a well-established and supportive service. You'll gain experience managing complex acute inpatient caseloads, contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives, and work alongside experienced Band 7 Clinical Leads and senior clinicians. We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about delivering high-quality care for adults with communication and swallowing difficulties. You will have experience working with adults in healthcare settings and be confident in managing communication and dysphagia presentations. You will enjoy working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and be committed to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development. Most importantly, you'll be keen to develop your specialist clinical skills and embrace opportunities to grow into future leadership responsibilities through our Band 6 to Band 7 development pathway.
You will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of adults with communication and swallowing difficulties across acute inpatient services. Working as an autonomous practitioner within multidisciplinary teams, you will support the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care for individuals with complex needs. You will have opportunities to develop advanced clinical skills through working alongside experienced clinicians, participating in audit and quality improvement initiatives, contributing to education and training activities, and supporting service development projects. The post includes a structured development programme to support progression towards Band 7 competencies, enabling you to build expertise in leadership, governance and service improvement alongside your clinical practice.
