The reproductive and childbirth Research Team is currently recruiting a Senior Research Nurse/Midwife to support the delivery and growth of our wide research portfolio.
Location: St James’s Hospital, Leeds Teaching Hospitals
Contract: full time (1.0 WTE), 18 Months, temporary contract. Secondment can be considered.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse or midwife with a strong research background to join a high-performing and innovative team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the coordination and delivery of clinical research, while also leading a dedicated team committed to excellence in care, safety, and patient experience. The Reproductive and Childbirth Research Team is recognised for developing a diverse and high-quality portfolio across subspecialties, and for selecting research studies that make a meaningful difference to the Leeds population.
In this role, you will:
- Delivery of complex clinical trials exploring new clinical pathways and treatments, including large recruiting trials (Starship, Generations, BabiLeeds) and intense commercial trials.
- Ensure that clinical governance standards and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements are consistently upheld.
- Take responsibility for managing a team of registered and unregistered staff, providing leadership, support, and oversight.
- Be responsible for the finance and NIHR metrics of the portfolio.
What you will bring to the role
We are looking to recruit a proactive and self-motivated individual with a keen interest in research delivery. The successful candidate will bring proven leadership and people management experience, together with a strong understanding of research governance, clinical governance, and portfolio performance management. They will have experience in management and be able to use performance metrics to support the effective delivery of a busy and diverse research portfolio. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills will be essential, alongside a commitment to developing staff and delivering high-quality research.
The post holder will be required to work alongside industry partners, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) Yorkshire and Humber (Y&H) and colleagues in neighbouring establishments, attending regional and national meetings as required.
