As a Scientific Operations Assistant, your main duties will include:
- Carry out routine tasks to established guidelines, to achieve team objectives.
- Seek advice and direction from more senior colleagues, to achieve outcomes in non-standard situations.
- Operate basic scientific equipment.
- Apply knowledge to solve routine problems and use initiative.
- Assist users in the area of work with the preparation of equipment, reagents/buffers, and supply of consumables for scheduled research and teaching activities.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of work undertaken, using appropriate IT software.
- Assist with general administrative tasks associated with the operation of the area of work.
- Assist with the distribution of goods-in and goods-out, and goods receipting.
- Work effectively with others and assist with induction of staff and students to the area of work.
- Carry out manual handling duties as required.
- Report faults and damage to infrastructure to senior colleagues.
- To actively demonstrate a commitment to professional development by continuing to advance knowledge, understanding and competencies.
