The PPSST is a trust-wide team that works both behind the scenes and alongside frontline services to ensure care is safe, effective, and consistently delivered to a high standard. Our work spans a wide portfolio, including:

  • Clinical documentation, policies, and standards development
  • Ward audits, safety checks, and assurance visits
  • Analysis of quality metrics and performance data
  • Patient safety initiatives (e.g. falls, Enhanced Therapeutic Observations and Care (ETOC), Clinical Support)
  • Quality improvement and service redesign
  • Support to clinical teams to address practice concerns and improve care

While documentation and governance are key aspects of the role, the team also works directly with wards and departments, supporting staff, identifying risks, and driving improvements in real time.

What you will bring to the role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic registered nurse or allied health professional with significant clinical experience and a passion for improving patient care through high-quality documentation, audit and quality improvement. You will be an effective communicator, able to present complex information clearly and build strong relationships with multidisciplinary teams across the Trust. The successful candidate will have experience of clinical audit, standard setting and service improvement, alongside excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while working independently. You will bring strong documentation, report-writing and governance skills, confidence in delivering education and training, and good IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications and data analysis. Above all, you will be proactive, adaptable and patient-focused, with the ability to influence practice, support change and contribute to the delivery of high standards of care across Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
