Personal Care Assistant for Child (9 yo) P/T 8-12 hrs PW, rate NMW (negotiable) LS26 LEEDS
We are looking for kind, reliable and emotionally resilient Personal Assistants to support our 9 year old son in the community and at home.
He is a lively and affectionate boy, with complex additional needs.
He is non- speaking with attention difficulties, sensory behaviours and little awareness of danger.
He requires close supervision and support to keep him safe and regulated.
He can become distressed and dysregulated at times, and can have self‑injurious behaviours, so this role would suit somebody calm, patient and genuinely person‑centred.
We are looking for people to support our son in a respectful and compassionate way.
The role will include
- Supporting our son at home and in the community
- Helping him access activities safely
- Sensory play and engagement
- Supporting communication and emotional regulation
- Providing support during episodes of distress
- Assisting with routines and transitions
We are looking for someone who is
- Calm, patient and dependable
- Non-judgemental and emotionally intelligent
- Comfortable supporting a child with complex behaviours
- Able to follow parental guidance and routines
- Flexible
- Has experience supporting children/young people with learning disabilities and SEND, behaviours that challenge (preferred but not essential)
Experience in care, SEND support work or education, CAMHS, nursing, or similar areas would be welcomed.
Hours are flexible, rate negotiable and can be discussed.
Paid holiday.
This may suit a student, teaching assistant, support worker, or somebody already working in care/SEND.
Enhanced DBS required/willingness to undergo one.
Based in Methley, Leeds (LS26)
The usual hours are 8 per week and 12 hours per week in the school holidays. Some weekend availability is required, especially during term time - days/times by agreement.
