The predicted salary is between 11.7 - 14.3 £ per hour.

Hours Per Week: 4 hours per week, 8 hours per week during school holidays (times to be arranged between us). Typically after school it would be 4-6pm twice a week.

Personal Assistant position available to support a happy and kind natured 14-year-old girl with a learning disability, autism and moderate hearing impairment. This is to support activities after school and in the school holidays. This will include working in the family home and taking the young person on short outings e.g. to the park, museums etc in the holidays.

The ideal candidate should be friendly, fun, compassionate, reliable, with an ability to plan and structure activities that help the young person develop their confidence and skills e.g. craft activities and outdoor activities. The young person has an enthusiasm for a wide range of activities and benefits from these being presented with a clear structure, instructions and positive encouragement.

What are the duties?

  • Support with after school and school holiday activities (this may include craft activities, visiting museums or attractions, and/or outdoor activities)
  • Support with developing learning skills e.g. reading and spelling
  • Support with building confidence and self-esteem e.g. demonstrating activities and providing positive encouragement

Essential:

  • An understanding of working with people with learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum condition
  • Ability to plan and structure a schedule of fun activities
  • Reliability and must be able to easily commute to family home in LS17
  • Happy to work late afternoon to early evening on weekdays. Hours may differ in the school holiday periods
  • A Full DBS check will be required

Desirable:

  • Previous experience of working with people with learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum condition
  • Car owner with full clean driving licence and appropriate insurance
