Location: Holt Park, Leeds (excellent bus links; bus stops within one minute of the house)

Pay Rate:

  • Weekdays: Β£13.23 per hour
  • Weekends: Β£16.53 per hour

About the Role

I am a 36-year-old disabled woman who lives with my husband in Holt Park. I am very independent and enjoy being active and involved in the community, but I require support to help with all day to day tasks. I am looking for reliable, caring, and trustworthy Personal Assistants to join my support team. A positive attitude, good sense of humour, and willingness to be flexible are important qualities for this role. A full driving licence is essential, as you will be required to drive my wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Available Hours

Regular Weekend and Evening Position:

  • Saturday: 8:00am – 4:00pm and 6:00pm – 10:00pm
  • Sunday to Friday: 7:00pm – 10:00pm

This post provides approximately 18 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours to cover outings, holidays, and sickness.

Emergency / Bank Cover Position:

We are also looking for someone available on a flexible basis to provide cover for sickness and annual leave.

  • 12:00pm – 10:00pm
  • 8:00am – 10:00am
  • 8:00pm – 10:00pm

Advance notice will be given whenever possible, with at least four weeks' notice for planned holiday cover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Personal Care: Assisting with getting out of bed in the morning and into bed at night, bathing, showering, washing, and personal hygiene, dressing and hair care.
  • Household Duties: Laundry and ironing, meal preparation and cooking, washing up and tidying after meals, light household cleaning.
  • Social and Community Support: Accompanying me on shopping trips, supporting me to access leisure and social activities, attending concerts, events, and outings, accompanying me on holidays when required (travel and accommodation costs covered).
  • Driving and Travel: Driving my mobility vehicle, occasionally accompanying me on bus and train journeys (a travel pass is available which includes free travel for the PA).

About You

  • Be reliable, punctual, honest, and trustworthy.
  • Respect confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  • Be able to follow instructions and work under my direction and that of my husband.
  • Be comfortable with the physical aspects of the role, including lifting, pushing, and bending (full training provided).
  • Have a positive, cheerful attitude and enjoy getting out and about.
  • Be willing to provide occasional cover for colleagues' sickness and annual leave.

Additional Information

A monthly rota will be provided to all Personal Assistants. Holiday entitlement is provided on a pro-rata basis according to hours worked. Holiday requests must be submitted with a minimum of four weeks' notice to allow care cover to be arranged. My husband has an assistance dog, and we often go for walks together. Applications are welcomed from local candidates, particularly those living in or near the Adel and Holt Park areas.
