What skills and experience we're looking for

The Stephen Longfellow Academy is seeking to appoint an outstanding and dedicated Pastoral Support Officer to join our pastoral team.

This is a key role within the academy, working closely with the Head of Year and Assistant Principal to support the effective leadership and day-to-day management of a year group.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality pastoral care, lead targeted interventions, support safeguarding and child protection processes, and work closely with students, families and external agencies to ensure every young person is safe, engaged and able to achieve their full potential.

Potential applicants should have

  • GCSE Grade 5+/C+ or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • Knowledge of children and young people's development, safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
  • Experience of supporting students to improve behaviour, engagement and achievement.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families and external agencies.
