PA for Young Adult up to 21 Hours PW- LS11

Service user is a 23 year old neuro-diverse gender-fluid person (pronouns she/they). They were attending an acting course in Leeds which is their interest but are now disabled with no education or training. The disabilities and health conditions are complex and severe - functional neurological disorder, functional gut disorder, autoimmune hepatitis, celiac disease, ADHD and anxiety. They speak English as a first language, although they struggle with communication sometimes due to ticks and non-epileptic seizures which are frequent. They are a wheelchair user. They have 2 kittens and a cat. They love art, gaming, films, and collecting figurines.

Main duties:

  • Keep on top of and attend medical appointments
  • Retrieve prescriptions
  • To get the wheelchair out and up the steps
  • Attend social events such as concerts, LGBTQIA+ groups, cinema, going to the park, out and about, etc.
  • Domestic duties, for example, support with grocery shopping, cooking and serving nutritious meals and snacks, cleaning, taking care of pets, changing linen, laundry and recycling. These duties may vary from day to day.
  • Assistance with calls and emails

Specific requirements: Due to the nature of this role, Tiger-Lily will be considering female applicants only.

What you can expect to receive: The candidate can obtain training from the Leeds PA Training hub. Ideal training would be for manual handling, first aid, understanding of neurological conditions - how they present and its impact (specifically in seizures, tic attacks).

Hours of work: Flexible hours to be mutually agreed.

Skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Full UK driving licence - with a car and appropriate insurance
  • Knowledge of LGBTQIA+ identities
  • Knowledge of UK health and social care processes and organisations
  • Good at building relationships
  • Has good computer literacy
  • Good communicator and listener
  • Ability to support people with behaviours that may be challenging and fluctuate in presentation
