Our Disputes & Operations team, led by the General Counsel for D&O, is a forward-looking and innovative legal team, which adopts an agile way of working. We're looking for a conscientious and proactive Lawyer to join our D&O team, part of the wider Legal & Secretariat (L&S) division. This is a rare opportunity for a highly motivated individual to work in a supportive in-house litigation and contentious regulatory team.
You'll join the D&O team as a Lawyer. D&O lawyers do a mixture of litigation and contentious regulatory work. The role involves managing a caseload of important and high-profile litigation and contentious regulatory matters, advising stakeholders on industry significant strategic decision making, and contributing to wider work of the D&O team. You'll work closely with business and operations colleagues and provide pro-active, pragmatic, and commercially aware advice. You'll work collaboratively as part of a supportive team. This will involve working with others from within the wider D&O team and L&S division.
What you'll be doing
- Deliver litigation and contentious regulatory support for Projects and cases.
- Responsible for working alongside colleagues managing caseloads, including strategic case management, briefing, and influencing partners, and managing external panel law firms.
- Support business areas in identifying and resolving legal risks.
- Act as legal representative in business/divisional projects, supporting other team members and non-contentious legal colleagues.
- Identify and develop protocols to improve the efficiency of litigation and contentious regulatory workload.

What we're looking for
- Legally qualified in England & Wales, Scotland, or with an equivalent legal qualification, and with a current legal practicing certificate.
- Knowledge of dispute resolution, with previous experience as a litigator in a law firm and/or in-house, experience of legal issues in the banking and financial services sector.
- Sound understanding of the technical and procedural factors affecting contentious matters.
- Ability to communicate ideas, risks, and strategies clearly and concisely - both orally and in written form.
- Ability to build trusting and collaborative relationships.
- Strong organisational skills and good attention to detail.
