Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support the Financial Controller in the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This is a varied role that combines core finance responsibilities with occasional administrative support for the Directors, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of the business.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, trustworthy, and capable of managing competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities of Finance Assistant:
- Assist the Finance Controller with daily finance operations.
- Process purchase and sales invoices accurately and promptly.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice queries.
- Assist with bank reconciliations and cash allocation.
- Prepare payment runs for approval.
- Support credit control activities, including monitoring outstanding debts and following up with customers.
- Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems.
- Assist with month-end procedures, journals, and reporting.
- Support budgeting and financial reporting as required.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, and colleagues regarding finance-related queries.
- Provide ad hoc administrative support to the Directors.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts assistant role.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with accounting software is desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Professional, discreet, and able to handle confidential information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
