Job Purpose

To provide clinical leadership and support in the day-to-day management of the clinical service provided by the Mindworks CYPS multi-disciplinary team. As a member of the managerial team, you will support in the development, reviewing and maintenance of standards, systems and processes to ensure the service is delivered according to national, CQC, local and Trust standards, policies, guidelines and local service plans.

To contribute to clinical, operational and strategic planning for the service in order to achieve and maintain a comprehensive Mindworks CYPS. To ensure that systems are in place for comprehensive assessment and good treatment planning that is safe for young people and their families; focused on target areas and effectiveness.

To work across organisational boundaries at the appropriate level to ensure that mental health services for children & young people in Surrey are provided within a coordinated, inter-agency context. To ensure that inter-agency protocols work effectively and are integrated with identified care pathways for children using Mindworks CYPS.

To represent CYPS Crisis Intervention Service and Paediatric Liaison Services at multi-agency forums, steering groups and whole county working groups, as required. To deputise for the Service Manager of CYPS CIS and PLN Services, if required.

As identified by the Service Manager, to work in partnership with professional leads to develop and maintain effective systems and practices to ensure the effective recruitment, supervision, appraisal and continuing professional development needs of the various disciplines are related to service needs and strategic plans.

To support the Service Manager to ensure that all members of the team comply with Trust requirements for clinical records, data collection and meet agreed activity targets. To support the Service Manager in undertaking performance reviews for all team members on an annual basis ensuring feedback on performance is given at regular intervals throughout the year.

To communicate effectively with the team on a timely basis ensuring robust systems exist so that staff feel informed and can contribute to service development. To have responsibility for risk management and health and safety in the workplace.

To support in the implementation of appropriate systems for gathering, recording and evaluating accurate information about the quality and safety of the service. To support in ensuring any complaint received is fully investigated and where possible, resolved to the satisfaction of the user of the service or the person acting on their behalf.

To support in, as advised by the Service Manager, the effective communication of sensitive information both verbally and in writing to a range of professionals, children, young people and their carers. To work closely with the Service Manager to communicate effectively to staff within the service regarding sensitive information e.g. HR matters, changes within the service.

To work closely with the Service Manager to make presentations to both formal and informal meetings within and outside the Trust. To work closely with the Service Manager in writing analytical reports and presenting these within the Trust and to external agencies.

To be a member of the Divisional Management Team and Division Quality team and ensure that all team members receive feedback from both and can contribute through team/sectors management structures.

To work closely with the Director, Deputy Director and Consultant Nurse in the strategic development of the service and to implement service changes and improvements as agreed. To work closely with the Service Manager and Professional Leads to develop systems for CYP consultation and evaluation of the service and to take a lead role in implementing, monitoring and evaluating agreed systems.

Contribute in conjunction with the Service Manager, Director, Deputy Director and UEC General Manager, to undertake project work and service evaluation as required.
