Personal Care Assistant /Support Worker required to assist a young man with a Physical Disability, Learning Disability and Epilepsy and a young woman with Autism, both living in the family home in Stonehouse. You would be required to provide one to one care, supporting each person (they are brother and sister) individually at separate times (5 hours per week each) to provide assistance in the community including participation in social activities.

  • Assisting with emergency medication
  • Assisting and participation in chosen activities
  • Moving and assisting - pushing manual wheelchair (only required for long distance walks)
  • Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living

Driver essential and you will be required to use your own vehicle – mileage allowance will be paid. Epilepsy Experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. The most important qualities are a warm and friendly nature and a desire to work within a caring role. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs. Favourite activities are 10 pin bowling, music, playing games consoles, going out for lunch i.e. McDonald's and garden centres.

Hours of Work (with a degree of flexibility): Recruiting for one position. Guaranteed permanent position of 10 hours per week. Days and times: Typically - (to be discussed at interview) Friday: 6.30pm - 9.30pm. Occasional weekends and evenings may be required - to be discussed at interview as this may change as youth groups start to open.

Hourly rate: £14.45 per hour.
