A large London-based public sector organisation is seeking an experienced property professional to join its senior leadership team as their Land & Development Lead.
This is a key strategic role within the property function, responsible for maximising value from a substantial and diverse property portfolio while supporting regeneration, growth and long-term organisational objectives.
Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Property, you will lead land and development activity across the full asset lifecycle, from opportunity identification and feasibility through to planning, delivery and disposal.
You will drive the development and disposals programme, providing commercial leadership and ensuring assets deliver both financial and wider community benefits.
Key responsibilities include
- Leading the land, development and disposals pipeline across residential, commercial and mixed-use assets.
- Identifying, evaluating and progressing development opportunities from inception through to delivery.
- Producing business cases, financial appraisals, options analyses and investment reports for senior decision-makers.
- Managing complex acquisitions, disposals and development transactions.
- Leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing external consultants including planning, legal, valuation and technical advisers.
- Providing strategic advice on estate rationalisation, asset optimisation and regeneration initiatives.
- Managing and developing a small team of property professionals.
- Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, partners, community groups and elected members.
- What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced Chartered Surveyor with a strong track record of delivering land, development and disposals projects within complex environments.
You will possess
- MRICS qualification with a minimum of five years' post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience of property development, regeneration and disposals.
- Strong commercial acumen and experience negotiating complex property transactions.
- Experience preparing business cases, financial models and investment appraisals.
- Knowledge of planning, development, procurement and property legislation.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to operate effectively within a complex, politically sensitive environment.
