Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with additional needs? We are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Knowsley for a full-time Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with Autism. This is a long-term position starting in September 2026, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child's educational journey.
The Role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 4 pupil, providing tailored support to help them access learning, develop social skills, and thrive within the classroom environment. You will collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support staff to ensure the pupil receives the guidance and encouragement they need to achieve their full potential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism
- Supporting the child's academic, social, and emotional development
- Implementing strategies outlined in the pupil's support plan
- Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
- Supporting communication, independence, and confidence-building
- Working closely with teaching staff, SENCO, parents, and external professionals where appropriate
- Monitoring progress and providing regular feedback to the class teacher
