East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust (EDLCT) is looking to recruit a Maintenance Assistant based at Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre

  • Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre provides first class facilities to the local community:
  • Main 25m swimming pool
  • Teaching pool
  • The Gym
  • Main Sports Hall

The Centre also supports EDLCT operations at Merkland Outdoor Recreation Centre, Lennoxtown High Park Community Sports Complex and various satellite Sports Pitch Pavilions across the Kirkintilloch & Villages area.

The Centre and its satellite football venues play a crucial role in delivering exercise fitness and sporting activities to the local communities and beyond, and the Leisure Centre alone attracts over 350,000 customer visits each year.

The Maintenance Assistant will support the EDLC team in the effective and efficient maintenance of Leisure Centre buildings, plant and equipment and to assist in the delivery of all service standards, as well as liaising and working with East Dunbartonshire Council Property services colleagues in respect of Pavilions.

Duties will include maintaining pool plant and heating systems, general maintenance, health & safety compliance, record keeping, liaising with contractors and Council colleagues and supporting capital projects.

We are seeking an individual with enthusiasm and a can-do attitude to join our committed and highly experienced team that puts customer satisfaction at the heart of everything they do.

The successful candidate will hold a Pool Plant Operators certificate/First Aid at Work qualification.

Applications will also be considered from individuals with relevant maintenance experience able to acquire these within a defined period.

The post holders will be required to work outside normal hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. However, the working pattern will be mostly Monday to Friday.

PVG/Disclosure Scotland

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate's first salary payment.

Successful candidates who withdraw their application after the check process has started will be invoiced for the cost of the check.

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee's wages following commencement of employment.

Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR &OD Manager.

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee's final salary.

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
