Medacs Healthcare is working in partnership with The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn (QEH) to recruit a Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with a specialist interest in Gynae-Oncology to join a friendly, forward-thinking department delivering high-quality women's health services across West Norfolk and surrounding areas. As a Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, you will join an established team providing comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological care, with dedicated opportunities to develop and deliver specialist Gynae-Oncology services. You will work across inpatient, outpatient, community antenatal hubs, and outreach clinics, contributing to both general and specialist pathways. You will also support ongoing service improvement programmes, including:

  • Maternity Culture Transformation
  • Elective Restoration Pathways
  • Implementation of evidence-based new ways of working
  • Development of specialist gynaecology services

This is a key role within a motivated, multidisciplinary team committed to delivering safe, modern, patient-centred care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultant-level care across general obstetrics, general gynaecology, and Gynae-Oncology
  • Lead and participate in outpatient clinics, including ANC, general gynaecology, and specialist clinics
  • Support urgent suspected cancer (USC) pathways and oncology-related clinics
  • Contribute to elective and emergency gynaecology theatre activity
  • Participate in MDTs, governance meetings, and service development initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with midwives, nurses, AHPs, and divisional leadership

About the department and setting

  • Part of the Women & Children's Division, serving West Norfolk, South Lincolnshire, and East Cambridgeshire
  • Consultant team with diverse subspecialty interests including Gynae-Oncology, Urogynaecology, Fetal Medicine, Colposcopy, EPAU, and Minimally Invasive Surgery
  • Newly developed maternity ward with 18 obstetric beds, standalone Triage Unit, and 8-room Labour Ward
  • Newly refurbished Emerson Unit for Gynaecology outpatients
  • Specialist clinics including Colposcopy, Ambulatory Hysteroscopy, Urodynamics, PMB, Oncology, and EPAU

What we're Looking For

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT/CESR)
  • UK Right to Work
  • DBS/PVG check (or willingness to complete)
  • Experience in Gynae-Oncology pathways
  • Experience in service development or transformation programmes
  • Interest in teaching, research, or leadership roles
