Medacs Healthcare is working in partnership with The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn (QEH) to recruit a Consultant Anaesthetist with a subspecialty interest in Critical Care to join a friendly, forward‑thinking department delivering high‑quality perioperative and intensive care services across West Norfolk and surrounding areas. About the Role
As a Consultant Anaesthetist with Critical Care, you will join an established and highly skilled team providing comprehensive anaesthetic and intensive care services at QEH. You will work across main theatres, day surgery, and the Critical Care Unit, contributing to both elective and emergency activity. You will also play a key role in service development, including:
- GIRFT (Getting It Right First Time)
- Cost Improvement Programmes (CIP)
- Implementing evidence‑based new ways of working
- Supporting the Trust's major digital transformation and future new hospital build
Responsibilities
- Provide consultant‑level anaesthetic care for elective and emergency surgery
- Deliver consultant‑led Critical Care services alongside the established ITU consultant body
- Support multidisciplinary working across theatres, ICU, outreach, and perioperative services
- Supervise and appraise junior doctors, ACCPs, trainees, and medical students
- Participate in audit, service improvement, and quality initiatives

What we're Looking For
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthetics (or within 6 months of CCT/CESR)
- UK Right to Work
- DBS/PVG check (or willingness to complete)
- Experience in regional anaesthesia
- Higher degree or additional qualifications (education, research, leadership)
- Interest in service development, innovation, or leadership roles
