Role: As a Junior Estimator, you will support the estimating function across a range of construction and refurbishment projects.

Working closely with senior estimators, project managers and supply chain partners, you will assist in preparing cost estimates, tender submissions and budget forecasts whilst developing your commercial and technical knowledge.

Key responsibilities include

  • Assisting with the preparation of cost estimates and tender submissions.
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Supporting the preparation of bills of quantities and pricing schedules.
  • Researching labour, material and subcontractor costs.
  • Assisting with risk analysis and value engineering opportunities.
  • Maintaining estimating databases and records.
  • Participating in site visits and pre-tender meetings.
  • Supporting post-tender negotiations and project handovers.
  • Working alongside commercial and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have

  • A degree, HNC/HND or be working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building Studies or a related discipline.
  • Previous estimating experience, a relevant placement year, or a strong desire to develop within an estimating career.
  • The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • A good understanding of construction methods, materials and building regulations.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Strong attention to detail and a collaborative approach to work.
  • A full UK driving licence or a commitment to obtaining one.
