The IT team support the Hospice by delivering reliable, responsive technical services to staff, our retail shops, and the systems that help care for patients.
This junior role is ideal for someone at the start of their IT career who is keen to learn, develop practical skills, and provide friendly day-to-day support in a small hospice environment.
The Junior IT Assistant will help provide hands‑on support across the Hospice, assisting with everyday technical queries, setting up equipment, supporting Microsoft 365 users, and learning how to maintain the Hospice’s IT systems under the guidance of the Head of IT & Systems.
You will be responsible for
- Providing first-line technical support to staff and volunteers, helping to resolve common hardware, software, printer, and account issues.
- Supporting users with Microsoft 365 services, including Outlook, Teams, Share Point, One Drive, and Office applications.
- Assisting with the setup, deployment, configuration, and maintenance of laptops, desktops, phones, printers, and other IT equipment.
- Helping to create, update, and manage user accounts, permissions, and basic access requests.
- Installing, updating, and checking software applications and operating systems, following agreed processes.
- Maintaining IT documentation, user guides, asset records, and equipment checklists.
- Supporting staff and volunteers with basic IT guidance, helping them use systems confidently and safely.
- Assisting the Head of IT & Systems with small projects, equipment rollouts, system improvements, and routine checks.
- Learning about cyber security good practice and helping to promote safe use of Hospice systems.
- Liaising with external IT suppliers where appropriate, escalating issues when further support is needed.
- Responding promptly to urgent IT issues and escalating incidents in line with agreed procedures.
