About the Role
We are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Specialist Learning Support Assistants to join our SEND team from September 2026.
This rewarding role involves supporting learners with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), physical disabilities, and complex medical needs.
Working closely with teaching staff and specialist professionals, you will help learners access education, develop independence, improve literacy and numeracy skills, and achieve their individual goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to learners with SEND.
- Support students in developing literacy, numeracy, communication, and life skills.
- Assist learners to engage in lessons, enrichment activities, and work experience opportunities.
- Provide personal care support where required, including toileting, feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene.
- Support learners with mobility needs using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment.
- Follow individual care plans, risk assessments, and EHCP outcomes.
- Support learners with medical needs, including medication administration and PEG feeding where trained.
- Promote independence, confidence, wellbeing, and positive behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families, and external agencies.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to learner reviews.
- Experience supporting young people or adults with SEND, learning disabilities, or additional needs.
- A caring, patient, and professional approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Willingness to provide personal care support.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting learner wellbeing.
- Experience supporting learners with complex needs, autism, or PMLD.
- Training in Manual Handling, PEG Feeding, Medication Administration, Makaton, or Positive Behaviour Support.
- Qualifications in Education, SEND, Health & Social Care, or a related field.
