The successful candidate will provide consultant-led care across Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with a particular focus on Gynaecological Oncology, Rapid Access (2WW), Colposcopy, One-Stop Gynaecology and Acute Gynaecology services. Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, the post holder will contribute to the continued development of high-quality, patient-centred services across Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will:

  • Clinical Responsibilities
    • Lead and deliver specialist Gynaecology Oncology, Rapid Access (2WW), Colposcopy and One-Stop Gynaecology services.
    • Provide high-quality general obstetric and gynaecology care in outpatient, inpatient, theatre and emergency settings.
    • Participate fully in the consultant-led Obstetrics and Gynaecology non-resident on-call rota.
    • Support the management of complex obstetric and gynaecological patients, including emergency and high-risk cases.
    • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure timely access to care and delivery of excellent clinical outcomes.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical pathways, guidelines and service improvements.
  • Leadership, Governance and Service Development
    • Actively contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including Gynaecological Oncology MDT and Perinatal MDT meetings.
    • Support service transformation, pathway redesign and operational performance objectives.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and learning within the department.
  • Teaching, Training and Research
    • Provide teaching and clinical supervision for undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees.
    • Act as Educational or Clinical Supervisor where appropriate.
    • Support trainee-led audits and Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs).
    • Participate in continuing professional development and appraisal in line with GMC and Trust requirements.
    • Contribute to research, service evaluation and innovation activities where appropriate.
  • Management and Professional Responsibilities
    • Participate in departmental, directorate and Trust meetings.
    • Support workforce planning, junior doctor supervision and recruitment activities as required.
    • Demonstrate leadership, professionalism and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
    • Maintain compliance with Trust policies, GMC Good Medical Practice and all mandatory training requirements.
  • On-Call Commitment
    • The post includes participation in the consultant non-resident Obstetrics and Gynaecology on-call rotas, currently: Obstetrics: 1:24 rota, including a fixed weekly on-call day and weekend commitments. Gynaecology: 1:17 rota, including a fixed weekly on-call day and weekend commitments.
    • The post holder must be able to attend the hospital within 30 minutes when on call, in accordance with Trust policy.
    • The exact job plan and on-call arrangements will be agreed with the successful candidate through the Trust's job planning process.
