The main purpose of the MDT Co-ordinator role is to support the clinical team and patient pathways at the Cancer MDT Meeting to ensure that the Trust meets the requirements of the national Cancer Waiting Time Standards. This will involve collecting data from a variety of sources and entering the data items into the Trust’s cancer database Somerset. The post holder will need excellent organisational and communication skills and a good attention for detail to be successful in the role. This role is primarily based at West Middlesex Hospital, with cross-site working at Chelsea & Westminster hospital as/when required.
The post holder will be supporting the cross cover of all tumour sites with dedicated time to support the Gynaecology MDT meetings where required. They will work with the clinical teams and liaise closely with their band 4 tracker to ensure all patients receive the utmost care. The post holder will ensure that all patients progress through their pathway post MDT, ensuring all treatment plans and next steps are in place or escalated. The aim of an MDTC is to provide the highest quality of care to patients and ensure they are being processed effectively and efficiently through the cancer pathway.
Key responsibilities:
- Arrange, cover and co-ordinate the weekly/fortnightly/monthly MDT meetings for designated specialties to ensure they are run in accordance with the MDT requirements for Cancer Services.
- Ensure all areas of the MDT are prepped in line with the requirements of the MDT, specific list needs, imaging and all required documentation.
- Ensure that all required cancer outcomes and service data set (COSD) and Audit data is captured during the MDT meeting and transferred onto Somerset.
- Circulate and collect an attendance register for the MDT meetings and maintain an electronic record of attendance for core members.
- Ensure accurate minutes of the MDT are circulated to the distribution list post MDT.
- Ensure delays in patient’s pathway are escalated to services so they can be resolved.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with counterparts in other local Trusts.
