Would you like to take full ownership of the operational backbone of a landmark renewable energy project and directly influence how it is delivered day-to-day?
The Opportunity
Behind every major infrastructure project is a complex operational engine that keeps everything moving, this is your chance to lead it. As part of a major hydro-electric power scheme in the Scottish Highlands, our client is scaling up site operations to support a growing workforce, expanding facilities, and increasingly complex logistics. This has created a requirement for an experienced Plant Manager to take ownership of the project’s plant, fleet, accommodation, and site infrastructure strategy. This is far more than a traditional plant role; you will be central to ensuring that people, equipment, facilities, and logistics are seamlessly aligned to support safe and efficient project delivery.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Manage the leasing and administration of land, properties, and site facilities required for project delivery
- Oversee the smooth operation of offices, accommodation camps, and associated site infrastructure
- Manage batching plants, crushing compounds, car parks, and associated operational areas
- Oversee the vehicle fleet, ensuring legal compliance, maintenance, and operational efficiency
- Source and manage plant hire agreements, ensuring best value, appropriate terms, and local engagement where possible
- Negotiate with landlords, suppliers, and stakeholders to secure favourable commercial arrangements
- Ensure all plant, vehicles, and facilities meet legal, safety, and operational requirements
- Coordinate with internal teams and supply chain partners to support project logistics
- Drive continuous improvement in plant utilisation, cost efficiency, and operational performance
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
- Strong experience in plant management, fleet management, or site operations within construction or infrastructure projects
- Proven experience managing plant hire, vehicle fleets, and operational logistics
- Knowledge of property and land lease agreements (particularly within Scotland or the UK)
- Strong negotiation skills with suppliers, landlords, and service providers
- Experience ensuring legal compliance across plant, fleet, and facilities
- Ability to manage multiple operational streams within a complex project environment
It’s great if you also have the following:
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects
- Knowledge of batching plants, crushing operations, or heavy construction plant
- Experience managing accommodation or large workforce site facilities
- Familiarity with remote or rural project environments
- Strong commercial awareness relating to plant hire and operational costs
- Experience working with local supply chains and suppliers
The setting for the role:
This is a site-based role within a major hydro-electric project in the Scottish Highlands, operating across multiple operational areas including compounds, accommodation camps, offices, and logistics hubs. The role requires a highly organised, hands-on approach, with strong stakeholder engagement across the project and supply chain.
