We are seeking a Health & Safety Manager to take a leading role in ensuring world-class safety standards across the project lifecycle. This role is critical to maintain operational excellence, safeguarding people, and embedding a proactive safety culture across a large, multidisciplinary construction environment.

You will be instrumental in influencing senior leadership, implementing best practice, and championing continuous improvement in a dynamic and challenging setting.

Your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Lead and champion best practice in Health, Safety & Sustainability across the project
  • Provide expert advice and support to Project Directors, Managers, and Supervisors on statutory H&S responsibilities
  • Ensure robust management systems are in place to meet legislative and company requirements
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews, identifying improvement opportunities
  • Lead and oversee accident and incident investigations, driving preventative actions
  • Analyse H&S performance data, identifying trends and implementing improvement strategies
  • Develop and deliver H&S campaigns, lessons learned sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Review and approve H&S documentation including risk assessments, method statements, and third-party submissions
  • Ensure full compliance with KPIs, company procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate H&S records, reports, and presentations for senior stakeholders
  • Lead site inductions and ensure all personnel meet project safety expectations
  • Take authority to stop work where safety is compromised

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

  • Demonstrable experience leading Health & Safety on complex construction or infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and compliance frameworks
  • Experience conducting audits, incident investigations, and safety performance analysis
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive behavioural change
  • Experience managing H&S systems, procedures, and site-wide initiatives
  • Relevant H&S qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH or equivalent)

It’s great if you also have the following:

  • Experience within renewable energy, hydro-electric, or major civil engineering projects
  • Knowledge of large-scale infrastructure delivery in remote or challenging environments
  • Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or joint ventures
  • Familiarity with digital H&S systems (e.g., Themis or similar)
  • Track record of delivering measurable safety improvements on major programmes

The setting for the role: You will be based on-site within a remote Highlands project environment, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders. The role requires a visible, hands-on leadership approach, with regular engagement across all site activities to embed a strong safety-first culture.
