University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Interim Divisional Manager for Medical Specialties and Infection to join Medicine Clinical Board on a nine month fixed term contract covering maternity leave, from 1 November 2026 to 31 July 2027. This role is open to internal applicants only.
Working jointly with the Divisional Clinical Directors, you will take operational responsibility for two divisions delivering complex, specialist care spanning dermatology, rheumatology, respiratory medicine, cardiology, renal medicine, infectious diseases, microbiology, virology and infection prevention and control. You will lead performance, quality and financial delivery for services relied on by patients from across London and beyond, working closely with the Medical Director, Director of Operations and senior clinical teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operational leader to take on a senior role at one of the most complex NHS trusts in the UK. As Interim Divisional Manager, you will be jointly responsible with the Divisional Clinical Directors for all aspects of performance and delivery across Medical Specialties and Infection, including staff experience, financial delivery, activity and quality and safety.
You will provide operational leadership across multiple sites, ensuring effective implementation of national and local strategies and delivery of financial and cost improvement targets. You will lead, motivate and develop a large multidisciplinary workforce, maintain robust clinical governance and risk management, and build strong working relationships with clinicians, corporate teams and partners across UCL and the wider health system.
You will also lead on service development and business planning, identifying opportunities to improve outpatient performance, non-elective flow, length of stay and equity of access for patients.
