Team Manager to join a Children & Families Service within a London Local Authority.
The successful candidate will provide strong operational leadership and management to a team delivering high-quality social care services to children and families.
You will play a key role in ensuring effective case management, statutory compliance, service development and positive outcomes for children and young people.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced children's social care professional looking to take on a senior leadership role within a dynamic local authority environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop a team of operational and support staff.
- Oversee the effective management of complex children's social care cases .
- Provide oversight of
Child Protection, Children in Need and Looked After Children cases.
- Ensure all decision-making is consistent with relevant legislation, local procedures and best practice .
- Oversee the preparation and quality assurance of complex reports for public law childcare proceedings .
- Ensure statutory and court-related timescales are met across public law proceedings.
- Prepare and present complex reports and briefing papers for senior management, Council committees, partnership boards and external meetings.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community groups, partner agencies, voluntary organisations and other stakeholders .
- Support the development of multi-disciplinary and jointly commissioned services .
- Lead and contribute to local service development projects , including project planning and maintaining project timetables.
- Develop accurate management information systems to support effective service monitoring and decision-making.
- Contribute to budget planning, identifying financial pressures and opportunities for improved efficiency and value for money.
- Represent the Head of Service at internal and external meetings when required.
- Develop appropriate service options in partnership with other service areas and external agencies to support children and families with assessed needs.
About You
The ideal candidate will have
- Social Work Qualification
- SW, SWE, Dip SW, CQSW, ASYE
- Significant experience within
Children's Social Care .
- Previous experience as a
Team Manager or in a senior social care management position .
- Strong experience managing or overseeing complex children's cases .
- Knowledge of
Child Protection, Children in Need and Looked After Children frameworks.
- Experience overseeing public law proceedings and court reports .
- Strong understanding of children's social care legislation, statutory requirements and best practice .
- Proven ability to lead, manage and develop staff.

- Experience contributing to service development, performance management and resource planning.
