Supporting outpatient and inpatient care of patients with general surgical problems referred by General Practitioners and hospital colleagues Supporting the consultant surgeon in providing, enhancing and developing specialist care in the area of Upper GI Surgery Management of emergency admissions when on-call supporting on call FY1 and consulting with consultant on call as appropriate. Supervising junior doctors and non-consultant medical staff. Teaching junior doctors, medical students and non-medical staff as appropriate and in line with the guidance by the Postgraduate Dean and Clinical Tutor and FY1 Foundation year programme Director. Conducting patient management in line with the guidelines agreed by the surgical consultants and the Trust. Undertaking audit of his/her work and contributing to appropriate national audits. Participating in continuing professional development and in the Trusts appraisal and assessment processes, which include a formal annual appraisal. Participating in the Trusts Clinical Governance activities.
