We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Nursery Room Leader to join an excellent nursery based in Hitchin.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced childcare professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and lead a team in delivering exceptional care and education to young children.

As a Nursery Room Leader, you will be responsible for managing your room, supporting, and developing Nursery Practitioners, and creating a nurturing, stimulating environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

We are also currently recruiting for a Nursery Practitioner position within the nursery.

You must hold a Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years, or an equivalent recognised qualification to be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care and education for children aged 0-5 years.
  • Lead, support, and supervise Nursery Practitioners within your room.
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities that promote children's learning and development.
  • Ensure staff are appropriately deployed to maintain high standards of care and education.
  • Implement the nursery's key person procedures and allocate children to key carers effectively.
  • Create and maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Ensure compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and nursery policies.
  • Monitor, observe, and assess children's progress, maintaining accurate records.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers, providing regular feedback on children's development.
  • Manage daily room routines including meals, sleep times, and educational activities.
  • Promote leadership, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the nursery.

About You

  • Required
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the EYFS framework.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organisational and leadership abilities.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and lead by example.
  • Previous experience working in a nursery or childcare setting.
  • Experience in a Room Leader or senior childcare role.
  • Understanding of child-led learning and play-based approaches.
  • 31 days annual leave including Bank Holidays.
