The predicted salary is between 37035 - 45265 Β£ per year.

The lung therapy service provides a multiprofessional service to patients with severe and complex respiratory disease including asthma, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, cystic fibrosis, PCD, COPD and ventilatory failure. We are looking for a clinician with the right experience to work within our respiratory Physiotherapy outpatient service.

This post will involve working as part of MDT care in a number of clinics including but not limited to Bronchiectasis, Asthma, unexplained dyspnoea, upper airways, EDAC. Physiotherapy led clinic time will be made up of complex airway clearance, breathing pattern dysfunction, drug response assessments and other activities. The department is actively involved in research and audit, this will be an important component of the role and the post holder will be expected to lead and engage in these activities.

The post will be supported by two clinical specialist Physiotherapists and a therapy team lead. This role will require cross site working across GSTT sites, specifically Royal Brompton, Wimpole street and Harefield hospitals with 2 days being spent at Harefield per week and rotating yearly with fellow B7 in outpatients. There may be ad-hoc requirements to attend other sites across GSTT.

Under the guidance of the Therapy Lead for the Lung therapy and clinical specialist physiotherapists the post holder will:

  • Provide highly specialist physiotherapy intervention, including planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating physiotherapy, with particular focus to the outpatient setting (NHS and Private Patients).
  • Take a lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have highly complex needs, and to determine clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To organise, co-ordinate and deliver the outpatient respiratory Physiotherapy service day to day within the hospital and to support the development of the service, along with other members of the adult lung team.
  • To supervise junior team members within the adult physiotherapy team.
  • To play a major role in the continuous development of the service using audit, evaluation and quality improvement methodology.
  • To deliver high quality care in in-patient, outpatient and day case settings.
