We are seeking a Paediatric Physiotherapist to join our Community Health Service in Merton (30 hours per week). You will deliver high-quality, responsive care to children and young people with a range of needs, including neurological, neurodevelopmental and coordination conditions, some with complex medical needs. Work will take place across clinics, mainstream schools, nurseries and children’s homes.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children in community, school or similar settings
  • Communicates clearly and works well within a team
  • Is confident using IT systems and contributing to service delivery
  • Is committed to continuous learning and improvement

Experience in leadership, mentoring, clinic coordination, service development or quality improvement is welcomed.

Requirements

  • Qualified Physiotherapist with relevant paediatric experience
  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development (neurodevelopmental training desirable)
  • Willingness to develop clinical, leadership and management skills
  • Experience with appraisal, supervision or reflective practice
  • Hold responsibility for own caseload and undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, while working as part of a team
  • Carry out specialised assessments and treatments of paediatric conditions and treatment of children with a variety of conditions. This includes continuing risk assessment, manual therapy techniques and therapeutic handling requiring moderate but variable physical effort during sessions
  • Undertake a comprehensive assessment of paediatric patients including those with diverse or complex presentations of musculoskeletal pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition
  • Use highly specialised clinical reasoning skills, knowledge of evidence-based practice and paediatric clinical expertise in determining appropriate care plans using specialist treatment skills
  • Interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical data from assessments to form accurate diagnoses in a wide range of highly complex paediatric conditions, including interpretation of investigation results.
  • Formulate accurate hypotheses and prognoses and recommend best course of intervention for individual treatment programmes
  • Provide specialist expertise for managing and treating paediatric patients with more complex neurological conditions and assist students, physiotherapists and specialist physiotherapists in achieving this
