This post is for a Hepatology admin assistant in the Hepatology Nursing team where the post holder will be expected to support the Nurses in the day-to-day running of the Services in that aligned CSU. The post holder will need to demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, relationship building, communication, team working, data analysis and problem solving. Ideally, the post holder will have knowledge of the NHS, understanding of patient pathways and strong computer skills.

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare to patients by providing an administrative service focused on the patient and their individual needs. The post holder will provide effective and efficient support to a team liaising with patients, doctors, hepatology specialist nurses and other healthcare professionals. Clerical Duties:
- To work as a member of the Hepatology Administrative team to provide daily assistance, giving confidential administrative support.
- To assist with all administration duties relating to the safe, effective, and responsive day-to-day running of the service.
- To assist in maintaining required levels of access at all times, for patients and referrers of the specialist service.
- Provide a high standard of administration support to the service by typing correspondence and reports, organising meetings, maintaining diaries and managing a comprehensive filing system.
- Organise and manage own workload and act independently within appropriate guidelines.
- To provide a polite and efficient service to visitors if required.
- Able to negotiate with patients whose first language is not English; preparing new patient medical notes; making patient appointments; entering data onto Excel spreadsheets and databases.
- Order on SBS procurement, check, maintain and distribute equipment and supplies for the team and other agencies as required.
- Check incoming invoices, obtain authorisation for payment and forward invoices for payment and seek authorisation for purchasing items.
- Monitoring of patient pathways inclusive of updating relevant MKUH systems such as Ecare and Clinic Outcome Forms.
- Monitoring patient waiting lists to ensure patients are secured an outpatient appointment within designated appropriate timeframes. Escalating issues appropriately to a clinician.
- Liaise with Hepatology Specialist Nurses to compile agenda and papers for meetings, to accurately type and distribute correspondence, minutes, and other documents, maintaining accurate circulation lists for the unit and attend meetings as and when required.
