Are you an experienced Maintenance Operative, General Maintenance Technician or skilled property maintenance professional looking for a rewarding role where your work makes a real difference?

At Cygnet Elowen Hospital, we are looking for a reliable and practical Maintenance Operative to provide a high-quality maintenance, repair and facilities support service across the hospital.

You’ll remain safe, welcoming and well maintained for the people in our care, our colleagues and visitors.

You’ll be working 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday) at Cygnet Elowen Hospital, supporting a service for individuals with eating disorders, personality disorders and disordered eating.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include

  • Providing a responsive and effective general maintenance and repair service.
  • Carrying out a wide range of building maintenance tasks, including basic joinery, plumbing, painting, decorating and general DIY repairs.
  • Completing routine property maintenance checks to ensure the hospital remains safe, functional and well presented.
  • Maintaining equipment, services and vehicles to a high standard.
  • Supporting planned preventative maintenance and responding to repair requests in a timely manner.
  • Completing regular fire safety checks, including fire alarm points, fire exits, door retaining devices and emergency lighting.
  • Following safe working practices and reporting faulty equipment, maintenance issues.
  • Keeping accurate records of maintenance work and safety checks.
  • Travelling to other sites when required and occasionally supporting emergency repairs outside of normal working hours.

Looking for someone who is

  • Experienced in a maintenance operative, maintenance technician, handyperson, caretaker, facilities assistant or similar property maintenance role.
  • Skilled in general DIY, repairs, plumbing, painting, decorating, basic joinery or construction maintenance.
  • Confident carrying out routine maintenance checks and keeping accurate records.
  • A practical problem solver who can prioritise maintenance issues safely and effectively.
  • Friendly, reliable, and able to work well as part of a team.
  • Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, managers, contractors and service users.
  • Willing to travel when required and holds a full valid UK driving licence.
  • Ideally experienced within a healthcare, care home, hospital, education, residential or commercial maintenance environment.
