Cornerstone Healthcare is seeking experienced, compassionate, and dedicated Healthcare Assistants to join our award-winning team at The Burren.

The Burren is a newly built, purpose-designed service in South Bristol that specialises in supporting individuals with complex neurological conditions, complex dementia, mental health needs, and rehabilitation and recovery-focused requirements.

We provide person-centred care that focuses on each resident's abilities, goals, and potential, helping them achieve the highest level of independence and quality of life possible.

This is an exciting opportunity for Healthcare Assistants who are passionate about rehabilitation, mental health support, complex dementia care, and case management, and who want to make a meaningful difference within a specialist environment.

  • What You’ll Bring
  • At least 12 months' experience supporting individuals with complex dementia, mental health conditions, neurological conditions, or acquired brain injuries
  • OR
  • At least 12 months' experience working within rehabilitation, hospital discharge, recovery, or case management settings (essential)
  • Experience supporting residents with behaviours that may challenge
  • Knowledge of person-centred and recovery-focused approaches
  • Understanding of multidisciplinary working and rehabilitation pathways
  • Strong observation skills and confidence monitoring and reporting progress
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
  • A caring, compassionate, and patient-centred approach
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • A positive, team-focused attitude and commitment to delivering outstanding care
  • Your Working Pattern
  • 38.5 hours per week (12-hour shifts)
  • 3 shifts one week, 4 shifts the following week

Both day and night positions are available. Whilst we will consider your preference, rotation and weekend working will be required. Breaks are unpaid.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Healthcare Assistant at The Burren, you will

  • Support residents with complex dementia, mental health needs, neurological conditions, and rehabilitation goals
  • Work alongside nurses, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to implement care and rehabilitation plans
  • Observe, monitor, and accurately report changes in residents' physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing
  • Provide high-quality personal care, mealtime support, and assistance with daily living activities
  • Build trusting relationships with residents, recognising individual triggers, preferences, life histories, and communication styles
  • Support residents experiencing confusion, distress, anxiety, low mood, trauma-related behaviours, or changes in mental wellbeing
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing case management and care planning processes
  • Promote dignity, choice, privacy, and respect at all times
