Health Care Support worker - General Surgery | Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
Paterson Ward specialises in complex Bariatric, Benign Upper GI, Colorectal, General Surgery and Urology.
Paterson ward is a short stay unit with a high turnover of patients.
Paterson ward streams patients from both elective surgery pathways and acute admissions from SAU and A&E with a focus on delivering specialised protocols (such as the Bariatric Surgery) to the highest possible standards.
The Paterson ward in-patient nursing establishments are required to provide an adequate number of registered nurses and appropriate skill mix 24/7.
You will be able to rotate between the ward, the surgical assessment unit and recovery.
- Assist in the provision of care to patients, supporting and supervised by a registered nurse.
- To carry out care and treatment tasks, delegated from professionally qualified staff, requiring a wide range of technical ability, numeracy and literacy skills as well as a significant level of interpersonal skills.
- To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.
- The post holder will generally work with supervision close by and within well established procedures and practices.
The post holder is required to use a degree of initiative and deal with matters independently where they can but should know when to refer to the manager.
