Senior Registered Nurse | Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust
Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare.
Nursing vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.
We are looking to recruit a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual to join our Community Hospital team, supporting the delivery of high-quality rehabilitation and palliative care services.
Our inpatient care is led by a Matron and delivered by a skilled multidisciplinary team including Registered Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Assistants, Care Management staff, a Pharmacist, and Visiting Medical Officers.
Community Hospitals provide a range of healthcare services for adults aged 18 and over, helping patients recover, regain independence, and achieve the best possible outcomes.
Our inpatient units predominantly focus on rehabilitation and end of life care, offering compassionate support to patients and their families during important stages of their healthcare journey.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a supportive team committed to delivering person-centred care with dignity, kindness, and respect, making a real difference to the lives of those we serve.
- Under the direction of the Matron, you will be responsible and accountable for the holistic care of a named group of patients.
- You will regularly take charge of the Ward and the Hospital in the absence of the Matron.
- You will delegate for the matron at Trust clinical forums and meetings.
- Provide clinical and managerial leadership to nurses and health care assistants.
- You will be expected to participate in 24-hour internal rotation and undertake other duties where requested which are compatible with the grading of the post.
- You will be expected to move to other Community Hospital sites to cover the needs of the service, so a driving licence is essential.
Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust is due to integrate with Medway Community Healthcare on 1 October 2026.
Following integration and to align our community services to the new Neighbourhood Model of care delivery, there will be a period of consultation which may result in changes affecting some services, teams or roles.
Depending on the area you are applying to work in, this could include potential changes to your role, work base, reporting arrangements, or terms and conditions of employment.
Any changes would be subject to consultation and managed sensitively and in line with relevant employment processes.
Please do contact the recruiting manager if you have any concerns about this so they can answer any questions you might have.
