Are you a highly motivated individual looking to start or expand your aquaculture career? We are currently looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual to make a difference at the Company's Recirculation Unit at Lochailort. The role is challenging, but ultimately very rewarding and can lead to a variety of fulfilling career progression opportunities. If you are ambitious and motivated and want to work with a likeminded team, then this is the role for you.
The successful candidate will be required to work 40 hours per week or an average of 40 hours where your shift pattern rotates over more than one week. The successful candidate will also be expected to be part of a weekly alarm rota and will be required to stay on site providing 24 hours call out cover. We can offer support with commuting from the Fort William area.
About the job:
The Hatchery technician role is a crucial part of the operations process and ensures that the best management of our salmon is undertaken. We need our technicians to strive for continuous improvement and deliver on all aspects of farm work to keep the team on track and performing well. The job includes, but is not limited to:
- Leading on feed, control and inspection of fish
- Operation and maintenance of the RAS systems
- Monitoring and maintaining fish health and welfare
- Respond to hatchery alarms when assigned on-call
- Proactive approach to Health & Safety practices throughout the hatchery
- General farm tasks to keep the whole operation running
The ideal candidate should have an interest in the aquaculture industry and be willing to learn. They will be willing to expand their understanding and work hard on the job. Experience is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided.
You will be required to hold, or able to obtain, and retain an ML5 or ENG1 medical certificate. A flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job is necessary, along with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Ability to understand the aims of the site and to support the rest of the team to achieve these is important. Respect for the need for safe working practices is essential. A driver's licence is required; however, if you do not have one, we can help with the cost of lessons.
