Moyns Park Estate is a historic private estate centred around a Grade I listed Elizabethan country house set within beautiful parkland in the heart of rural Essex.
The estate encompasses farmland, woodland, environmental stewardship schemes, residential properties and grazing land, providing a diverse and rewarding working environment.
Due to the retirement of the current postholder, we are seeking an experienced, practical and highly motivated Working Estate Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of the estate and act as the owners' trusted representative during periods when they are away.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied, hands-on role and takes pride in maintaining high standards across a traditional English estate.
The estate includes
- Arable farmland managed through a recently established Contract Farming Agreement with a neighbouring farming family.
- Approximately 37 hectares of established woodland.
- Extensive parkland with mature specimen trees.
- Grassland and former stud paddocks grazed by a partly owned flock of sheep.
- Environmental stewardship and Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) schemes across much of the landholding.
- Approved fencing and hedge-planting projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the estate.
- Act as the owners' eyes and ears, ensuring the estate is well maintained and efficiently managed at all times.
- Monitor and maintain estate infrastructure, including tracks, drains, fencing, grounds and woodland.
- Undertake practical estate maintenance and coordinate specialist contractors where required.
- Liaise with farming partners operating under the Contract Farming Agreement.
- Assist with the delivery and compliance of SFI and other environmental schemes.
- Support woodland management activities and conservation projects.
- Oversee fencing, hedge planting and habitat enhancement work.
- Work positively alongside the estate's sheep enterprise.
- Serve as the first point of contact for residential tenants.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance across seven estate properties.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, suppliers and professional advisers.
- Maintain accurate estate records and paperwork.
- Assist with budgeting, financial monitoring, cashflow forecasting and general estate accounts.
- Provide regular reports and updates to the owners.
