  • 1. Inspect incoming components and materials against drawings.
  • 2. Perform visual and dimensional quality inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • 3. Assist with the use of the Leica to inspect and measure machine bases.
  • 4. Provide measurement and inspection support to subcon when required.
  • 5. File and maintain accurate records of rejected components in accordance with the F55 process.
  • 6. Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation (inspection drawings).
  • 7. Develop practical knowledge of engineering drawings, tolerances.
  • 8. Support commissioning activities by collecting and recording measurement data for Cpk capability checks (Helps projects).
  • 9. Create rejection notes recording relevant information including the reason for rejection, supplier, part number and job number.
  • 10. Communicate quality issues to relevant supptiers and internal departments.
  • 11. Arrange the collection and return of rejected components, liaising with Andy Norton as required (chasing if not returned).
  • 12. Organise measurement equipment for calibration in accordance with company procedures and calibration schedules.
  • Working Week
  • At the company: Mon - Thur 8am - 4.30pm, Fri 8am - 12.30pm

Qualifications Required

5 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

It is important that the candidate is self-motivated, an effective problem solver with good planning and communication skills.

It is essential that the candidate has a keen eye for detail and a high level of pride in their work to ensure that the technical accuracy of their work meets the companies required standards.

  • Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company

  • Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 1, 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
  • In house training in line with your requirements.
  • Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer

  • Engineering Basic Skills training – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
  • A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
