Consultant CAMHS Liaison, Crisis, HTT | Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust
This is an interim 6 PA, 12-month fixed term post pending the outcome of the review.
Given the close working relationships across both teams in the Crisis pathway, and the small caseload in HTT (some of whom will not require medical management), the postholder is expected to work flexibly across the crisis and home treatment pathway.
He/she will work alongside the consultant in the CLi C team to lead on the assessment and management of YP presenting with complex mental health crises in A&E, some of whom may require input and brief interventions from the HTT.
The post holder will also lead on the medical management of cases in the HTT and provide support and advice to non-medical colleagues across both pathways.
There will also be a need for the post holder to support multi- agency working across sectors and plan appropriate discharge/ suitable alternatives to admission on a case-by-case basis.
They will also be expected to work closely with the operational manager of the Crisis pathway, lead nurse, the full-time consultant in the CLi C team and both team managers.
Within the current service, the expectation of the consultant is to lead on the assessment and risk management of 2-3 high risk complex crisis cases a week which will include 1-2 follow ups across both teams.
The Consultant Psychiatrist will work with all the disciplines in the CLi C and HTT teams to provide assessment, consultation, advice, and support.
The post holder is expected to work with internal and external agencies within the child’s network to ensure the best possible clinical outcomes for young people presenting in Crisis and young people requiring intensive support.
The post is clinic based and will require attendance to acute site settings for assessments in A&E, as well as occasional home visits which are envisaged as part of the package of support within the HTT pathway.

- Provision of psychiatric care to CYP in the local borough crisis/HTT pathways through evaluation, diagnosis, and use of appropriate treatment plans/strategies for children presenting with mental health difficulties.
- Liaison and joint working with Greenwich, Bexley and Bromley CAMHS teams, as needed depending on the needs of the young person carers and professional network.
- High quality note keeping and adherence to clinical standards on our electronic patient record, Ri O.
- Contributing to decisions regarding care plans, discharges, and treatment of patients in accordance with medical standards.
- Consultation to the teams in the Crisis pathway around psychiatric issues.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure delivery of the right treatment for each young person referred in keeping with evidence-based practice.
- To manage, appraise and give professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreedbetween consultant colleagues and the medical director and in accordance with the Trust’s personnel policies and procedures.
- To lead on improving the quality of clinical assessments carried out by the HTT/ crisis team by ensuring adherence to clinical standards and providing training as appropriate to clinical staff in the crisis team.
- To support evidence-based clinical pathways and compliance with CAMHS clinicalstandards.
- To promote and encourage the implementation of evidence-based clinical practice in the Crisis pathway by drawing on agreed Professional Standards and Guidelines.
