Assistant Manager - Children's Residential Care

Highlights

Deputies also cover on call on weekends which is on a rota'd basis.

The standard shift pattern is split over 2 long days, with a sleep-in in between, averaging 1-2 sleep-ins per week.

  • The Home: Beautiful 4 bedroom home with 2 established children
  • Role
  • Support the Registered Home Manager in the day-to-day running of the home and provide cover in their absence.
  • Lead, motivate and support the team to deliver safe, consistent, and therapeutic care.
  • Be a role model for trauma-informed practice, building strong relationships with young people.
  • Support care planning – contribute to assessments, reviews, and the implementation of personalised care plans.
  • Safeguard children and young people by ensuring all policies, risk assessments, and procedures are followed.
  • Drive quality and compliance, completing audits, checks, and contributing to inspections (e. g. Ofsted).
  • Coach and develop staff through supervisions, mentoring, and on-the-job support.
  • Manage rotas and staffing levels to ensure consistent and safe care is always in place.
  • Work directly with children – offering support, stability, and positive role-modelling.
  • Promote a safe, loving, and nurturing home environment where children can heal and thrive.
